Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer Review

Description:

Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer is a heavy duty, highly pigmented, transfer- and water-resistant, multitasking concealer.  It is a creamy, blendable concealer that provides excellent, customizable coverage.  It is oil and paraben-free, so it is safe for acne.  This is an extremely long-lasting concealer, especially when you follow the standard steps of applying concealer in which you prep the skin, dab on concealer, blend edges, and set with powder.

Summary of Reviews:

Kat Von D’s concealer gets rave reviews from users as a great concealer for acne, rosacea, scars, and other skin discolorations. Even though it is branded as a tattoo concealer, users said that it works far better as a concealer on the face instead. In fact, those who bought it for tattoos were pleasantly surprised at how well it worked for hiding other skin issues, including undereye circles. This is a very versatile concealer.

bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Face Concealer Review

Bare Escentuals Multi-Tasking concealer

Description:

This is a mineral-based powder concealer with SPF 20 that can be used for many purposes, including concealing acne and other skin imperfections.  Bare Escentuals also describes it as a soft eyeshadow base and good for covering dark circles under eyes.  It is oil-free, as well as free of other chemicals and ingredients that typically cause sensitivity reactions.

Summary of Reviews:

Bare Escentuals advertises its makeup as “so pure you can sleep in it”.  While any acne expert will tell you that sleeping in your makeup is a VERY bad idea, Bare Escentuals’ line of mineral makeup is one of the most popular ones around for people with acne.  It gets consistently high ratings and most users say that it does not aggravate their acne at all.  In fact, most of the hundreds of reviews we looked at raved about this product.  The only real complaint is about the color choice.  The lightest color is still a little too dark for those with very fair skin.

Murad Acne Treatment Concealer Review

Description:

Murad’s Acne Treatment Concealer was developed by a dermatologist, Dr. Howard Murad, as part of his line of acne treatment products.  It is oil-free, contains 2% salicylic acid for treating acne, Vitamin A for regulating oil production, and green tea extracts for protecting against the environment. Murad’s concealer comes in a stick form and was created to both treat and cover acne blemishes.

Summary of Reviews:

People seem to either love or hate Murad’s concealer.  Murad quotes one of its reviews from Lucky magazine which says:

“86% of users experienced overall better skin in 2 weeks.”

Reviews from reputable sites, like Sephora.com and Makeupalley.com, show a more diverse response.  Only a few reviewers said that their acne was cleared up by the concealer.  However, most people did say that their acne did not get worse, which is a significant positive for anyone with acne when it comes to using makeup.  Most reviewers also said that it provides good coverage, though it can be hard to blend unless you use a concealer brush.  For most people, it also lasted several hours and just needed some touching up during the day.  Luckily, it comes in a very portable stick that is easy to throw in your bag.

How to Apply Concealer

Some people recommend applying concealer after foundation while others say you should put it on before.  I prefer to put it on first so that the foundation can even out any differences
in color.  You can always touch up with a little extra concealer afterward.picture of concealer

To apply your concealer, all you really need are your fingers. You may also use a concealer brush, which can by useful in getting at little crevices, like around your nose.  If
you do use a concealer brush, make sure it is very clean or it will deposit bacteria right
where you need it least, back on your acne.  This will only make your acne worse.  Clean
the brush every day with a little mild soap and water.  If you do it at night the brush will be
dry by morning.
